The Aerospace Corporation Announces Leadership Changes

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (March 18, 2008) -- Dr. Wanda M. Austin, president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, has announced several changes in senior leadership positions at the company.

"These changes will allow us to better serve the technical needs of all our customers by more sharply focusing senior technical and administrative leadership on the national security space mission," Austin said. She announced the following changes.

  • Dr. David J. Gorney, formerly vice president of Space Programs Operations, has been promoted to senior vice president of Space Systems Group, an organization that focuses directly on support to the United States Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center.

  • National Systems Group General Manager Bernard W. Chau has been named vice president of National Systems Group, reporting to Senior Vice President Dr. Manuel De Ponte.

  • With the retirement of Senior Vice President Donald R. Walker on June 1, 2008, Rear Adm. Rand H. Fisher (USN, Ret.) will become senior vice president of Systems Planning and Engineering based in Rosslyn, Va.

  • Jerry M. "Mike" Drennan, head of The Aerospace Corporation's operations in Colorado Springs, Colo., has been appointed senior vice president of Operations and Support, a newly established organization. He will relocate to the corporate headquarters in El Segundo, Calif.

  • Catherine J. Steele, general manager in Systems Planning and Engineering, has been promoted to vice president of Space Operations, Requirements and Technology, replacing Drennan in Colorado Springs.

  • Aerospace is creating a new vice president position, chief information officer, to be filled by Dr. William C. Krenz. Austin said Krenz, who advances from deputy CIO, "will focus on the increasingly complex world of information technology and information assurance inside and outside the company." He will continue to report to Dr. Rami R. Razouk, senior vice president of the Engineering and Technology Group.

  • Executive Vice President Dr. Joe M. Straus will retire on July 1, 2008, but his position will not be filled.

The Aerospace Corporation, based in El Segundo, Calif., is an independent, nonprofit company that provides objective technical analyses and assessments for national security space programs and selected civil and commercial space programs in the national interest.
