Peter Teets Elected Chairman of Board of Trustees
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2008) -- Peter B. Teets has been elected chairman of The Aerospace Corporation’s board of trustees, the company has announced. He replaces Lt. Gen. Donald L. Cromer (USAF, Ret.), who is retiring from the board after six years of service. He chaired the board from 2006 through 2008.
Selected to serve as vice chair was Gen. Thomas S. Moorman Jr. (USAF, Ret.). Teets and Moorman were elected to three-year terms during the board’s quarterly meeting held at the company’s headquarters in El Segundo, Calif.
“We are extremely pleased to be welcoming Pete Teets and Tom Moorman as chair and vice chair of the board of trustees,” said Aerospace President and CEO Dr. Wanda M. Austin. “They bring valuable leadership experience and expertise to the board, and we are fortunate to have the benefit of their knowledge and counsel as we confront the challenges of 2009 and beyond.”
Before being elected to the Aerospace board in 2005, Teets served as undersecretary of the Air Force and director of the National Reconnaissance Office. He was president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin Corp. from 1997 through 1999.
Moorman is rejoining the Aerospace board after an absence of one year. He retired from the Air Force in 1997 as vice chief of staff after 35 years of service. Also rejoining the board are Gen. Howell M. Estes III and K. Anne Street.
Leaving the board besides Cromer are Dr. Guion S. Bluford Jr., Maj. Gen. Donald W. Shepperd (USAF, Ret.), and Gen. John H. Tilelli Jr. (US Army, Ret.), who have each served three consecutive three-year terms.
“We thank Don Cromer for his leadership as chair of the board and for helping to guide the company during a time when we made many important decisions regarding the future of Aerospace,” Austin said. “Guy Bluford, Don Shepperd, and John Tilelli also have played critical roles in helping us make many of these important decisions, and we thank them for their exceptional service.”
