Test firing of a hypergolic paraffin wax/gaseous oxygen motor

The Aerospace Corporation has developed a paraffin wax fuel grain that can be hypergolically ignited. Hypergolic propellants spontaneously ignite when they come into contact and thus do not need a separate ignitor. The photograph shows the 2010 test firing of a hypergolic paraffin wax/gaseous oxygen motor at The Aerospace Corporation hybrid rocket test stand.  More »
