Leading the Development and Application of Hyperspectral Imaging
Spectral remote-sensing technology is used to deliver the needs of government, civil, and commercial customers. The research and development performed in this field by The Aerospace Corporation is intended for use in fundamental science investigations and also to function as testbeds to assist in the definition of future space-based instrument concepts.
The Imaging Spectroscopy Department (ISD) has become a leading center for the development and application of hyperspectral imaging instruments and data collection. Aerospace scientists and engineers at ISD specialize in the development and use of spectral remote-sensing technology; the investigation of the phenomenology of optical remote sensing; and the challenges associated with ground, space, and airborne systems. ISD also has mobile laboratories that supply deployable systems capable of providing precision radiometric measurements for ground-truth applications.
